About
The Taradale Volunteer Fire Brigade covers a medium sized area to the South of Napier City. Taradale was originally a separate town before merging with Napier in the 1960’s. Two pumps cover over 20,000 residents, including rest homes, schools, the EIT, a large shopping center, a section of the main Napier / Hastings motorway, market gardens, orchards, and a large rural area. We also provide cover for the annual Mission Concert and Jazz in the Park festival.

Taradale Volunteers respond to between 180 and 200 calls a year and are backup to the permanent brigades of Napier and Hastings (both with their own volunteers also). We have assisted Napier and Hastings brigades at many large fires and incidents over the years including the Sacred Heart fire, the December and January 2001/2002 flooding, the Napier Hill fire, and the All Brites Fire.
Our Incident Support Unit (5512) is on first turnout for many major complexes in the bay and assists at all large calls, usually turned out on a 2nd alarm.
