A first look at the new Gisborne Bronto Aerial appliance. These were taken the day after it was delivered.


That would apply to both Gisborne and the trip in the hoselayer up there. 5512 left at 2am on the morning of the 21st December following the earthquake as part of the Fire Service taskforce from Napier and Hastings.

Photographer John Cowpland sent us this photo from his trip there to cover the damage. Other Gisborne photos of his can be found on the NZPA site. The night of the quake, the following day, and cleaning up work.
