Early Christmas morning Taradale 551 provided cover on Napier station while they were at a 2nd alarm fire at the Old Boys Marist Clubrooms, Latham Street, Napier.

That would apply to both Gisborne and the trip in the hoselayer up there. 5512 left at 2am on the morning of the 21st December following the earthquake as part of the Fire Service taskforce from Napier and Hastings.

Monday night training was interrupted for the real thing after a car crashed into a motorbike in Glouchester Street, Taradale. The occupants of the car assaulted the driver before running off.

A driver discovered that trees don’t move out of your way when he crashed and had to be cut from his car on Tuesday 23rd October. Needless to say the tree was damaged but the driver and car were damaged more.
